The Agasthiyar commemoration day was celebrated in Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna on 19th of December 2024 which is the birthday (Janana Thinam) of Agasthiyar in Ayiliya natchaththiram. On that day, an idol of Agasthiyar was consecrated at the premises of Sri Sithy Vinayagar temple of Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna. The Agasthiyar idol was donated by the following Senior Lecturers:
- Dr.S. Sivashanmugarajah (Retired Senior Lecturer Gr I, Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna)
- Dr. (Mrs.) V. Sathiyaseelan (Dean/ Senior Lecturer Gr I, Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna)
- Dr. (Mrs.) K.Sounthararajan (HOD/Noi Naadal Chikitsai)
Moreover, the other staff and students of Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna were contributed in their physically and financially support to this holy occasion.
The Chancellor of vavuniya Campus, Vice chancellor of the University of Jaffna, former Vice chancellors of the University of Jaffna, Deans of the relevant faculties of the University of Jaffna, Senior Academics, Librarian – University of Jaffna, Retired Senior academics and Non- academics, Alumni Association, Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna, Council members, Commissioner, Dept. of Indigenous Medicine, Northern province, MOIC, Siddha Teaching Hospital, Kaithady, Proctor, University of Jaffna, Director welfare, AR welfare and other Siddha, University of Jaffna community was participated, other than Faculty of Siddha Medicine Academic, Non- academic staff, Students were get involved the charming day. Also new students who were enrolled for the 1st year BSMS with their parents were joined us in the blessed day. On the same day the delightful sweet pongal and delicious lunch was prepared and served for the all guests and participants. Concurrently, the Siddha Medical students and Student Association of Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna gave their speech and Agasthiyar Vanakkam.
