To enhance the academic, clinical, research standards and community Engagement activities of the Department, the following developmental activities are proposed:
1. Academic & Training Advancement
- Incorporation of Surgical Modules
Introduce structured training modules in Siddha surgical techniques (Aruvai), integrating both theoretical knowledge clinical and practical experience.
- Skill Enhancement Workshops
Organize hands-on workshops to develop skills in minor surgical procedures, bloodletting, ulcer management, and related therapeutic practices.
- Formation of Professorial Unit
Establish a dedicated Professorial Unit to lead and oversee clinical training, research, and academic excellence in Sirorogam and Aruvai Maruthuvam at Siddha Teaching Hospital, Kaithady.
2. Clinical Infrastructure Development
Develop a clinical setup where surgical interventions are supported by adjunct therapies to ensure holistic patient care.
3. Research and Innovation
- Clinical Studies on Siddha Surgical Techniques
Conduct systematic clinical studies to document and evaluate the efficacy of Siddha surgical methods for conditions such as chronic ulcers, abscesses, fistulas, and nasal polyps.
Investigate the effectiveness of Siddha formulations used in post-surgical care for wound healing, pain relief, and infection control.
- Case Documentation and Publication
Promote the reporting of clinical cases and encourage publication of successful surgical outcomes in peer-reviewed journals.
4. Skill Transmission & Preservation
- Digital Documentation of Classical Techniques
Create audiovisual and written educational resources to preserve and transmit knowledge of classical Siddha surgical techniques for future generations.
5. Community Engagement Activities
Organize rural outreach programs focused on minor surgical interventions, wound care, and ENT treatments, promoting accessible healthcare.
- Public Awareness Programs
Conduct educational initiatives to raise awareness about the relevance, safety, and benefits of Siddha surgical practices for specific conditions.
6. Workshops, Seminars, and Conferences
- Academic Engagement Events
Host seminars, workshops, conferences and interdisciplinary workshops on Sirorogam and Aruvai Maruthuvam to foster collaboration between Siddha and Modern surgical practitioners.
7. Postgraduate courses
Propose the introduction of a postgraduate degree programme in collaboration with resources persons from Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Tamilnadu, South India.
